Fireman G.W. Squibb

Fireman George William Squibb died as a result of enemy aerial bombardment on 17 February 1943.

George was a member of the National Fire Service, Shanklin Company, who had survived the terrible events of just over a month earlier which killed twelve of his NFS colleagues.

George, husband of Alice of Grove House, Apse Heath, died on Landguard Road, Shanklin during another low-level aerial bombardment and strafing attack that took the lives of eleven other persons in the town.

Rest in peace Fireman Squibb.
