Unless the IWFBF has been able to obtain a photograph of the individual being remembered or their last resting place, they shall be honoured with the posting of the thin-red-line memorial flag as shown above.

One of the regular features of the IWFBF's Facebook page is to remember former members of the Island's firefighting community. Whether the individual be a firefighter of a pre-WW2 parish, town or borough brigade, the wartime Auxiliary and National Fire Service, or post-war County Brigade or the modern Fire and Rescue Service, the post-war reincarnation of the AFS or one of the many 'private brigades' that existed throughout the course of the Island's history, it's our aim that on the anniversary of their death they are remembered for their life and service. This applies equally to those who were employed to provide direct support to firefighters, typically but not limited to control operators for example.

The database from which this information is retrieved is always being added to, if you have details of a firefighting family member that you would wish to be remembered in this way please use the contact page to let us know.

We honour all those that have gone before us, rest in peace.
